A bindi, pronounced ‘bin-dee’ is usually a decorative red dot or colourful sticker worn in the centre of the forehead between the eyebrows by women in the Indian Subcontinent traditionally symbolising the third-eye. However how it is also worn as a fun accessory and some of the stickers can act like rhinestones to decorate the face. The word stems from the Sanskrit word “bindu,” meaning drop or particle, bindis are known by various names across India, including kumkum, sindoor, teep, tikli, and bottu. TIP: You can also wear these bindis on your nose like a small nosepin/stud.
